The hot springs at Gasa in Western Bhutan are situated close to the banks of the Mo Chu River and Chubu is located on the bank of Pho Chu River. These springs are some of the most popular in the country and are frequented by locals and tourists.   There are several bathhouses and several pools that you can choose from, each has varying temperatures, from hot to warm.  Bathing facilities are also available to ensure the hot springs remain clean and hygienic.  Locals believe that these hot springs cure various illnesses like skin diseases, joint pains, urinary tract infections, and many more.  You will have to try and see for yourself!

This tour offers you the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in Bhutanese culture. Itinerary

Upon your arrival in Paro, Druk Experience's dedicated staff will be there to greet you and provide seamless transportation to Thimphu, comfortably arranged in a private vehicle. The scenic drive from Paro to Thimphu typically takes around one hour, allowing you to enjoy the picturesque landscapes of Bhutan along the way. As part of your itinerary, you have the option to include side trips to Tamchogang Temple and the Wasisina nun's temple, offering additional cultural exploration. Following a satisfying lunch, your journey continues with visits to various sites in Thimphu, such as the impressive Buddha statue and the revered memorial stupa. These captivating landmarks showcase the rich spiritual and historical aspects of Bhutan.

Today will be a long drive, but the scenery will be stunning and ever-changing. We will start the day with a 133 Km drive across the spectacular Dochula Pass to Gasa Hot Spring. The hotspring is located in a picturesque valley, surrounded by lush greenery and mountains.Along the way, we will make several stops to admire the view. Upon arrival, you will be served tea and coffee in your camp. Change your clothing and dip yourself in the hot springs. You can enjoy bathing or soaking till late at night depending on your interest. Indulge in a refreshing dip in the water before breakfast, followed by a visit to Gasa Dzong, a magnificent fortress situated atop a hill, offering panoramic views of the valley. Immerse yourself in the architectural splendor of the dzong and gain insights into its cultural significance. Return to the camp area and treat yourself to another soothing soak. After a delicious lunch, embark on a leisurely hike or nature walk, exploring the enchanting local flora and fauna. Complete your day by indulging in a relaxing soak once again, allowing the mineral-rich waters to rejuvenate and detoxify your body.

Start your day by rising early in the morning and indulging in another dip in the rejuvenating Gasa Hotspring. The hot mineral-rich waters will invigorate your senses and prepare you for the day ahead. Spend some time soaking and enjoying the therapeutic effects of the natural springs. Following breakfast, it's time to embark on a scenic drive from Gasa to Punakha. Upon reaching Punakha, your first stop will be the iconic Punakha Dzong, also known as the Palace of Great Happiness. This majestic fortress is located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (male) and Mo Chhu (female) rivers. continue your cultural tour with a visit to Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Temple of Fertility. This temple is dedicated to the divine madman, Drukpa Kunley, who is known for his unorthodox teaching methods and his ability to bless couples seeking fertility. Take the evening to relax, enjoy a delicious Bhutanese dinner, and immerse yourself in the tranquility of Punakha.

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Chubu Tsachu, nestled alongside the tranquil banks of the Pho Chu River, just a day's journey away from Punakha town, taking approximately 2 hours. Situated at an elevation of 2,930 meters above sea level, the mountain trail meanders through a serene chir pine forest before entering a refreshing, cool, and temperate mixed forest. The allure of the Chubu hot springs attracts a diverse chain of visitors from across Bhutan, drawn by the waters' reputed properties that are believed to relax muscles, potentially alleviate UTI infections, and contribute to overall well-being, although these claims lack scientific proof.

Begin your day by embracing the early morning and indulging in another revitalizing dip in the hot spring's restorative waters. Once you've savored the rejuvenating experience, bid farewell to the tranquil ambiance of Chubu and embark on your journey back to Paro. Along the way, pass through Punakha and Thimphu, immersing yourself in the beauty and cultural richness of these vibrant Bhutanese towns. Finally, arrive in Paro, a breathtaking valley adorned with majestic landscapes, historical treasures, and the nation's sole international airport. Allow yourself to be captivated by Paro's allure as you explore its storied history, iconic landmarks, and the enchanting natural wonders that define this remarkable destination.

The culmination of your tour will be the trek to Taktsang or Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Tiger’s Nest is stunning in its beauty and location. A trip to Bhutan is not complete without seeing Tiger’s nest. This excursion will take most of the day. You can expect a 4-5-hour hike (total) with about a 1-hour tour of the monastery. If you do not feel you can make the whole walk, we can arrange a horse ride for you to the cafeteria (about ½ way up). However, you must be physically able to walk the entire way down. Finally, we will return to Paro for our celebratory farewell dinner.

Day 8 :
Departure

We will arrange your transfer to the Paro Airport in time for your departure flight. Most flights out of Bhutan depart in the morning.

What is the Gasa Hot Springs?

The Gasa Hot Springs are located in one of the country’s remotest and poorest districts. They can be found about two hours walk downhill from the dzong, Gasa tshachhu (hot springs) is believed to cure rheumatism, arthritis, ulcers, indigestion, skin diseases, even tuberculosis and other ailments. The hot springs are still very popular by the locals.

What type of vehicle will we be traveling in?

Druk Experience provides vehicles based on tour size. For small tours we provide 4 door SUV type cars, for larger tours, we provide smaller tour buses that can accommodate 8-10 individuals. Our cars are in excellent shape and our drivers are always safe and careful. All vehicles will be equipped with air conditioning or heaters.

How/what should I pack?

Pack light for all of our tours, soft suitcases/duffel bags are best. Dressing up will not be necessary, dress for comfort. Layer, layer, layer. Wear sturdy shoes for walking/hiking. When we visit holy sites, you will be asked to wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts.

Can I take pictures?

Yes, please feel free to take as many pictures as you would like. However, you will be asked to not take pictures in our temples. If you have any questions about when you can take pictures, please ask your guide.

Should be bring snacks?

If you would like to have a snack (protein bar, etc.) while hiking/trekking, or if you just think you might miss your favorite snack – then yes, please bring some snacks with you. However, they are not necessary. Druk Experience will make sure that you are well fed on your tour.
